Taff,
joined the ATC in 1983 at 241 Wanstead and Woodford Squadron, becoming
a Cadet Warrant Officer in 1988 and being awarded the London and South
East region best male cadet award and Dacre Sword Nomination in 1989.
He
eventually left the Corps to pursue a career in construction, before
rejoining 2070 Squadron in Leicester as an AWO in 1995. Following
his move back “south” he joined 2324 in 1999 with his second
appointment as an AWO following in November 2002. In 2005 he was
appointed as a London Wing Sector Warrant Officer to oversee standards
in eight squadrons in London Wing's North West Sector. Looking
after the squadron's shooting, Taff is the squadron's current RCO
and is encouraging the cadets to enter more competitions than ever
before gaining experience and markman's at all levels.
Taff
has an unhealthy interest in Drill but the rest of the time he is a
keen hill walker and climber with a Mountain Leader (Summer)
qualification. His hidden talent is that he is one of the only
non-Welsh people in the UK to be known as ‘Taff’, we’ll let you work
out why.
