Simon
joined the
ATC at 27F (Chingford) Squadron in 1994. During his time at 27F he
progressed through to Cadet Warrant Officer
and achieved his Staff Cadet classification.
Simon
enjoyed
all cadet activities, particularly sports, and represented West Essex
Wing at
Athletics, Swimming, 11 a side Football, 5 a side Football and
Rugby. In addition to sports he
was part of the team
that won the Elworthy competition for 3 years in
succession. Simon also
enjoyed adventure training and
went on all the Squadron’s climbing, canoeing and hill walking
trips. Additionally Simon was a
keen shot and
achieved his RAF Marksman.
In 2002
Simon
took a short break from the Corps then returned to 27F as a Civilian
Instructor
where he served as their Projects Officer and Sports
Officer. Simon came to
2324 in 2007 on a six months
secondment and joined the Squadron permanently later that
year. Simon is now the Squadron
Sports Officer and
is part of the Wing sports training team, helping train the Wing Rugby
team. He still
enjoys adventure training
and was part of London Wing’s first BELA (Basic Expedition Leaders
Award)
course held in 2006 and is now working towards gaining his Mountain
Leader
Award. His interest
in shooting is still
alive and kicking and he is starting training to gain his shooting
qualifications. Outside
of the
Corps Simon plays rugby for Loughton Rugby Club and plays 5 a side
Football in
a local league. |
